What Story Are You Telling Yourself?

Be honest.

Have you ever talked yourself out of an opportunity before anyone else had the chance to?

I have.

And looking back, it wasn't because I wasn't capable.

It was because my confidence had taken a hit.

There was a season in my life when a brain tumor affected more than my health. It affected my work. My memory wasn't as sharp, and eventually I was removed from a leadership role I'd worked hard to earn.

That season forced me to ask a difficult question:

If I can't do what I've always done...who am I now?

Maybe you've never faced a health crisis.

But you've probably faced something.

A layoff.

A divorce.

A failed project.

A manager who made you question yourself.

A season where you just didn't feel like you.

Here's what I've learned.

The stories we tell ourselves after those moments matter.

Sometimes we say:

  • "I'm not ready."

  • "Someone else is more qualified."

  • "Maybe I missed my chance."

  • "I'm just not the same anymore."

But what if none of those stories are true?

What if you're simply looking at yourself through the lens of your hardest season?

For me, confidence didn't return overnight.

It came back one small win at a time.

One meeting.

One project.

One reminder that I still had something to contribute.

And eventually...

I earned my leadership role back.

Not because I was the same person.

Because I'd become a different one.

A stronger one.

I'd love to hear from you.

Has there been a season that made you question yourself?

More importantly...

What helped you start believing in yourself again?

Share your thoughts below. You never know who might need to hear your story.
